JOB PURPOSE

As a Trade Compliance Specialist at Burberry, you will play an integral part in delivering the Burberry Trade Compliance strategy, ensuring all compliance and requirements are adhered to globally. You will be the subject matter expert and point of contact for a number of manufacturing sites across the UK and the globe, supporting the movement of stock and non-stock items.

 

This Trade Compliance Specialist role is offered on a full time, permanent basis working hybrid (2 days per week in the office).

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Facilitating imports and exports of non-stock goods, completing and supplying documents and declarations
  • Working closely with approved brokers and logistics providers to ensure the smooth movement of items across borders
  • Issuing country specific guidance to the business on additional import requirements for son-stock products into the UK and the EU predominately, as well as the US and Middle East 
  • Supplying accurate commodity codes for all non-stock products moving into the EU and UK, in addition to global HS codes as needed
  • Providing support on internal projects where input, involvement or expertise from Trade Compliance is needed
  • Auditing and monitoring entries to ensure they are compliant with local import and export legislation, as well as support global customs audits
  • Providing support to the wider operations team, including UK and EU import advice, clearance instructions to third party brokers and forwarders, ad-hoc business inquiries, non-stock shipments, and general business guidance

PERSONAL PROFILE

 

  • Experience within customs/trade compliance within a large, global business or brokerage, and an in-depth understanding of UK & EU Customs regulations
  • Proficient understanding of international trade, import duties, commodity codes, incoterms, preference and valuation
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written) essential with expert communication skills across all levels. Italian language skills highly advantageous
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as being confident to work independently
  • Demonstrates initiative and drive to meet deadlines while working in an ambiguous environment
