Energy House Labs at the University of Salford has a growing international profile and is recruiting to grow. The unit runs across four labs running a wide variety of large and small projects focused on net zero homes, building performance and digital energy. We are a well-integrated team and have a strongly supportive workplace culture with a delivery focus, which has led to rapid growth. The School of Science Engineering and Environment is focused on quality of life for society, industry collaboration and is making significant investments in new facilities.

The Smart Energy Research Assistant will be joining to become part of the dynamic Energy House Labs Team at the University of Salford. The successful applicant will be part of a rapidly growing team in the field of net zero for the domestic built environment, supporting the commercial and funded research programmes across the group.

This will involve working for projects on energy flexibility, energy management systems, building energy performance and other related areas. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills in a major growth area for the University with a potential to grow your skills and experience in delivering world-class research.

We are looking for someone who has background in:

  • IoT
  • Control systems’
  • Hardware and software configuration

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Data acquisition systems
  • Data accessing
  • IoT sensors and systems
  • Smart metering and controllers

with a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification. We are industry-facing so experience of working in industry and/ or a higher education setting would be beneficial. We are a flexible dynamic team so we are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills, a commitment to teamworking and a flexible approach.
