Hybrid and flexible working from Head Office in Skipton

We are recruiting a Head of Finance to work in partnership with our CEO of our Homes business and CEO of our Money business as well as Group Function Leaders.  You’ll also be working closely with Group Chief Financial Officer to help deliver strategic objectives.

In this role you will help formulate and deliver strategic objectives with a particular focus on the financial aspects of those strategic objectives, working in partnership with the Group enabling functions’ Leaders to help formulate and deliver the strategic objectives of those functions with respect to the commercial and financial components.  You will lead a team of eight including Business Partners and Business Analysts.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Working closely with the leadership teams of the Homes and Money businesses and Group function leaders to deliver board agreed objectives. 

  • Support the development of strategy to underpin the Society’s purpose, formulate appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs) to track delivery against the strategic objectives and help course correct where appropriate. 

  • Provide strategic cost management, support and challenge to the Home Financing and Money businesses and the enabling Group Functions.help formulate the corporate plan and relevant stress test scenarios for the Home Financing and Money businesses and Group enabling functions

  • Evaluate and advise on Change business cases as part of the corporate planning cycle.

  • Liaise with the Group Reporting and Planning leader to report the relevant performance KPIs to the Group ExCo and the Board. 

  • Maintain the mortgage pricing model to support the Home Financing business lending plan delivery.

  • Identify and nuture talent in the Homes and Money finance team and work with the Finance Leadership to support the development of the finance function across the Society

  • Responsible for maintaining robust levels of skills and knowledge in your team to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements, leading to the delivery of good customer outcomes and fair value for all customers. 

What Do We Need From You?

Qualifications:

  • Appropriate professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA) 

Skills:

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to influence, engage and work in partnership with senior stakeholders

  • Ability to analyse and interpret various forms of financial and commercial data and present the findings in a relevant format that is easily understood to drive effective decision making.

  • Excellent leadership, coaching and mentoring skills, gaining the trust and respect of own team and Senior Management.

  • Ability to deliver change in a complex volatile environment.

  • Identify business problems and proactively develop and deliver practical solutions.

  • A systems thinker who can draw clear conclusions from complex information

  • A problem solver with persistence to resolve issues to a satisfactory conclusion in a timely manner. 

Knowledge:

  • A very good understanding of the drivers of value in a balance sheet business and be able to articulate it clearly.

Experience:

  • Experience in demonstrating strong people leadership and behaviours focused on motivating, coaching and development of teams.

  • Proven experience in developing teams’ that can deliver clear outcomes when there is a high degree of ambiguity.

  • Proven ability to influence, engage and work in partnership with senior stakeholders

  • Production and presentation of reports on complex matters to senior management in a clear and concise way.

  • Well connected to external market to help ensure the Homes business, Money business and enabling Group functions are operating in line with good industry practice.
