Description: Systems Development Officer – Temporary, fixed term up to 12 months

Do you have an eye for detail, are you a creative problem solver and innovator who likes a challenge?
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Housing Quality Assurance Team. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated individualto join the team as a Systems Development Officer. This role will focus on supporting and developing our integrated housing management system. If, like us, you want to help shape the way we deliver our services to our communities, firmly putting them at the heart of what we do and would enjoy working in a team committed to continuous improvement, then this role could be for you.

About the role
As part of our team, you’ll help us design, implement and test new software modules. In practice, that means working with people at a range of levels, across multiple teams. Able to translate technobabble into simple English, you’ll demonstrate how new technology can help staff move away from the repetitive re-keying of data and complexities of working across multiple systems. Understanding current day-to-day processes will be key, so you can configure the software to help deliver better ways of working and a better value for money service to our tenants and communities who need the most support.
Training will be a key part of your role, which is why you’ll need those excellent people skills. You’ll create training manuals for end users, so best practice can be followed. Do this role right and you will be key in driving cross-working across the organisation. You’ll touch all service teams and will naturally find ways of joining the dots more efficiently.

The successful candidate will need proven ability and experience of working with systems and databases (ideally housing management systems) and building and producing reports, with an understanding of the importance of data to support service delivery and evidence decision-making.

Stroud District Council is a flexible employer and appreciates the importance of having a meaningful work-life balance. This post offers the opportunity to work flexibly, including opportunities to work from home and other Council locations, in line with business needs.

Who should apply?
You will be joining a small, friendly and supportive team who have a shared passion for improvement and who work closely with each other to deliver real and lasting change.
You’ll need to be an enthusiastic team player who is future-focussed and who will bring a positive energy to the project. Excellent communication and organisational skills are key, as well having a good eye for detail. You may be working on multiple projects at any one time, so the ability to be flexible and be able to work under pressure is important.
An understanding of social housing and experience of working with systems would be of an advantage.
If you think you have transferrable skills, are able to influence and motivate others, enjoy working collaboratively and have the drive to deliver transformational changes, we want to hear from you.
