About you

 

Are you ready to play a key role in shaping the future of procurement at Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service?

We’re looking for a dynamic, curious, and collaborative procurement professional to join our Logistics & Resources team within the Community Safety Directorate. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will shape how we deliver smarter, more sustainable services across Fire and Rescue, Trading Standards and Coroners.

You’ll be a trusted advisor to our stakeholders, leading high value procurements and contributing to commercial strategies that align with our “Working Together for a Safer Gloucestershire” vision.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Delivering compliant, procurement projects across the Directorate.
  • Supporting procurements, producing clear, compliant documentation that delivers value for money.
  • Developing commercial strategies and driving continuous improvement.
  • Proactively engaging with suppliers and the wider market to shape demand, identify emerging opportunities, and encourage innovative solutions that align with strategic objectives.
  • Ensuring procurement activities align with governance frameworks and are audit ready. Writing reports and supporting business case development.
  • Championing sustainability, climate strategy, and social value in procurement.
  • Building strong relationships across the directorate, council and with external partners.

 

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Strong technical expertise and a proven track record in public sector procurement and contract management.
  • Experience using procurement and contract management systems and leveraging data for decision-making.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to build and manage strategic supplier relationships and support supplier performance improvement.
  • A natural collaborator who builds strong relationships, influences outcomes, and negotiates with clarity and confidence.
