About the team and the role
Wanted – Experienced Highways Engineer to join our friendly Highways Development Management team in the beautiful county of Gloucestershire.
We are seeking someone with excellent technical skills ready to support with the high level of developer-led highway works and adoption applications we receive. This is an exciting, varied role, where no two days are the same, with many opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills across a vast spectrum of highway, transport, planning and construction disciplines.
The Senior Development Engineer will undertake comprehensive technical assessments of drawings and supporting information for highway authority adoption of new streets and associated highway improvement works such as priority junctions and footways/cycleways. They will provide thorough feedback to the developer and their designers, assessing each revision until technical approval can be granted and a legal agreement entered into. They will be directly involved in all aspects of the process from application to adoption, working collaboratively with many other internal and external stakeholders throughout.

About You
You will have direct experience of checking highway designs for section 38, section 278 and planning applications.
You will be very familiar with technical specifications and design guidance such as Manual for Gloucestershire Streets and the Technical Specification for New Streets, DMRB, MfS, MCHW, TSRDG, NPPF, LTN1/20 etc. along with various other relevant guidance, policy and legislation.
You will understand the requirements of APC Noticing, highway licences, planning conditions, Section 106 agreements and Traffic Regulation Orders.
You will have excellent IT skills, be organised, methodical, proactive and committed to your professional development within civil engineering and, more specifically, highways development management.
Ideally you will have experience of working in a local authoirty or public service and have experience of working with financial and sensitive information.
