Overview

Programme Officer (AP Cluster) – Strand, London, WC2R 2LS

About us:

The Education Support Team is seeking a Programme Officer to offer high quality administrative support to postgraduate taught programmes within the School of Academic Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.

About the role:

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to join the Academic Psychiatry cluster as part of a dynamic and collaborative team of Programme Officers and Senior Programme Officers. This role plays a crucial part in delivering high-quality operational programme management, providing a consistent, accurate, and timely service across a wide range of academic support activities.

As Programme Officer, the post holder will be responsible for supporting both students and academic staff on a day-to-day basis. Duties will span the full academic cycle and responsibilities will include, but is not limited to, timetabling, module selection and evaluation, student registration, and oversight of DBS and Occupational Health processes. They will also contribute to committee servicing, monitoring student attendance and engagement, and assist in the planning and delivery of other supporting events.

Reporting to the Programme Manager and receiving supervision from a Senior Programme Officer, the post holder will work in accordance with university deadlines, faculty requirements, and relevant regulations. All work will be expected to be carried out with professionalism, sensitivity, and a commitment to confidentiality.

A key aspect of this role involves resolving student and academic queries—both in person and via email—in a timely and supportive manner. The post holder will be expected to manage routine enquiries independently, escalating more complex issues as appropriate. Flexibility and teamwork are essential, particularly during periods of high activity, when Programme Officers may be required to provide cover for colleagues and support the training and development of new team members.

The post holder will take shared responsibility for ensuring that administrative systems and data management processes are accurate, compliant with internal policies and GDPR, and aligned with university retention schedules.

This position is offered as a fixed term, full-time maternity cover post (35 hours per week), that will run until 28th August 2026.
