Are you a graduate looking to make a meaningful impact on the environment and your community? Join Anglian Water as a Leakage Operations Manager. Our two-year graduate programme is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career in a vital and fast-paced industry. You’ll be joining our Water Production team, which plays a crucial role in delivering clean, sustainable water to millions of customers across our region.

No two days are the same. Through rotational placements, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of challenges and experiences. This dynamic environment will help you develop your technical knowledge, leadership skills, and strategic thinking. You’ll be at the heart of our mission to protect the environment and deliver exceptional service to our customers. You’ll gain hands-on experience and insight into the complexities of water management and build a strong foundation for a long-term career in the water industry.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Leakage Operations Team’s priority is to find and fix leaks in our system. Every day, 300 people are dedicated to this task, and we invest £14 million annually to drive down leakage. As a frontier performer, we invest in the right people, tools, and technology to achieve our shared goal of reducing leakage to world-leading levels.

Through this placement, you will explore:

  • Active Leakage Control (ALC) – ALC aims to maintain current leakage levels by controlling the natural rate of rise caused by new or worsening leakage events.

  • Intensive Investigation Techniques (IIT) – IIT focuses on reducing leakage by identifying, detecting, and resolving previously undetected background leakage.

  • DMA & DZ Integrity Investigations – These investigations target known and unknown breaches within discrete leakage monitoring and reporting areas (District Metered Areas and Demand Zones).

  • Targeted Leakage Asset Replacement and Renewal – This involves replacing or renewing assets in poor condition that contribute to increased leakage through frequent or persistent failure.

  • Enhanced Maintenance & Compliance – This includes the maintenance, repair, and commissioning of critical metering and monitoring assets such Fixed Network Leakage Sensors. These assets are essential for regulatory compliance, leakage monitoring and reporting, distribution input tracking, abstraction monitoring, demand management, and achieving operability and availability targets.

We’re looking for graduates who are:

  • Curious and courageous – eager to learn, ask questions, and challenge the status quo

  • Active listeners and great communicators – able to engage with a wide range of people and understand different perspectives

  • Team-driven collaborators – who thrive in a supportive, interdependent environment and understand the value of working across teams to achieve shared goals

  • Strategic thinkers – who can see the bigger picture and make smart, informed decisions

  • Organised and detail-focused – with a proactive mindset and a drive to get things done

  • Open to change and dynamic environments – adaptable and resilient when faced with new challenges or shifting priorities

  • Passionate about sustainability – and motivated to make a real difference to the environment and their community
