About us:

 
The Head of Engagement and Enterprise leads the dynamic new Engagement and Enterprise team within the world-renowned Faculty of Arts and Humanities at King’s College London. The team will build an innovative third-stream education portfolio, transform our educational offer around skills building and industry engagement, and drive forward industry-focussed research and commercialisation collaborations. Its aim is to increase the impact of Arts & Humanities research and teaching, in particular in relation to the cultural and creative industries sectors, to ensure the financial sustainability and excellence of our education offer and to capitalise on the potential of our central London location to co-create a thriving creative cultural ecosystem and campus.
 
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is located in the centre of the Northbank District of London’s Heritage Quarter, surrounded by galleries, theatres, museums, heritage sites and thousands of businesses, which range from FTSE 100 companies to the rich local ecosystem of creative SMEs and startups. The new team will catalyse the engagement and enterprise opportunities emerging from King’s unique central London location to create a sustainable and dynamic future for the faculty and its students. We will work with local commercial and cultural partners to animate the Strand Aldwych site to create a flourishing campus and environment.

About the role:

 
This role is a is a key senior level professional services role responsible for leading the faculty’s external business development and engagement functions and managing the delivery of a portfolio of services across the faculty including; business development of professional education, communications, events, contracts management, industry partnerships, learning designers, marketing and admissions, alumni and stakeholder engagement, project management and process development and improvements.
The role holder will be responsible for acting as the key interface between the faculty and the university’s Corporate Communications, Global Student Recruitment & Admissions; Fundraising and Alumni; Research and Impact; International, Engagement and Service; Careers and King’s Edge; and King’s Professional Education Development (KPED) functions. They will hold shared accountability with these functions in terms of managing internal and external communications, third stream education, enterprise development and management, alumni and fundraising activities, alongside overseeing student recruitment marketing campaigns and admissions management.
 
Crucially, they will bring a commercially driven approach to seek out and develop opportunities for third stream revenue generation, working in closely with the Vice Deans and other members of the Professional Services Leadership team, to shape and deliver the Faculty’s Engagement and Enterprise Strategy.
 
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will be a strong leader with experience of line management and creating high-performing, motivated administration teams. They will have extensive experience of delivering excellent business operations administration and experience in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Communication with diverse audiences and building collaborative relationships is a key aspect of the role, so we are looking for a confident and self-assured individual with demonstrable experience of building networks and influencing and negotiating with stakeholders. They will have a commitment to continuous improvement and excellent interpersonal skills.
 
This is a full-time post and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
 
As a significantly place-based role, we expect the postholder to spend a significant proportion of their time on campus. While flexible / hybrid working will be possible, we expect the postholder to need to attend campus no less than three days per week on average, adopting a flexible approach as befits the needs of the role.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
 
Essential Criteria 
  1. Proactive and authentic approach to leadership, experience of line management, matrix management, building and managing high performing multi-functional teams, including motivating staff and performance management.
  2. Application of evidence-based analytical, creative, and constructive thinking and effective change management.
  3. Ability to engage in collaborative working across King’s and an ability to build, sustain and develop relationships at all levels, internally and externally, using persuasion and influence to achieve agreed objectives.
  4. Experience of successfully delivering a commercially focused strategy in a comparable/relevant setting, increasing income in one or more of the specialisms of the role’s portfolio
  5. Excellent task management skills and proven ability to use initiative, prioritise workloads for self and others and respond positively to competing demands and deadlines, delivering at pace, with accuracy and to high standards.
  6. Highly effective communication skills attuned to audience requirements and delivered in different formats.
  7. Evidence of a commitment to continuous professional development in self and others.
  8. Experience of relationship management and developing links with industry and other partners
 
Desirable criteria
  1. Prior experience in a higher education administration environment – specialising in one or more areas of the role’s portfolio
  2. Experience in developing analytics reports, ideally including the design of Power BI dashboards
