Position

WHAT YOU’RE HERE TO DO

  • People development: Recruit, train, develop and coach team including junior managers through internal training programmes
  • Delivery of sales and profit: You will hold overall responsibility for staffing levels, keeping them in-line with business trends and ensuring budgeted profit is achieved through training, communication and control with regard to employment costs, managerial profit & other managerial costs, food and drink gross profit.
  • Shift management: Lead by example, ensuring that all managers are proactive, organised and aware of the performance and needs of all departments on shift. Be customer focused, ensuring a management presence at all times, plus anticipate customers’ needs to ensure their expectations are exceeded.
  • Communication: Promote an inclusive and sociable environment using staff boards, newsletters, team outings and information sharing to develop this. Have a full understanding of all benchmark standards and communicate these at every opportunity; at daily pre-shift meetings, weekly management meetings and staff meetings.

Legal requirements: Work with the management team to ensure that the restaurant is safe and operating within the legal and company requirements of such laws as Fire & Health and safety and Environmental health.

Requirements

WHAT AN ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER NEEDS TO HAVE

  • Strong experience of managing/running a busy, high turnover restaurant.
  • 5+ years of management or leadership experience with demonstrable skills and success in hiring, leading and developing others
  • Some experience in cost controls (labour, GP, expenditure, etc.) and understand operating P&L
  • A genuine passion for the hospitality industry
  • Hands-on approach and enthusiastic
  • Driven and professional
  • Be structured, organised and able to delegate
  • People focused, nurturing, motivational and diplomatic
