About the Role

What You Will Do

As an Apprentice Technician, you will:

  • Help prepare and maintain workshop spaces, tools, and equipment.

  • Support staff and students during practical sessions, ensuring a safe learning environment.

  • Learn to manage stock, order materials, and keep the workshop organised.

  • Gain hands-on experience in maintaining and checking machinery and tools.

  • Keep up to date with new technologies and equipment used in the industry.

  • Develop your skills by facilitating small groups of learners under supervision.

  • Work towards your apprenticeship qualification, completing 20% off-the-job training.

  • Uphold Health & Safety, safeguarding, and college policies at all times.

About You

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, safety-minded, and keen to develop as part of our workshop team.

Qualifications and Attainments

  • Working towards a Level 2 Customer Service qualification (Essential)

  • Willing to complete a COSHH qualification as part of the apprenticeship (Essential)

  • A relevant vocational qualification in your subject area, at least Level 3 (Essential)

  • English, maths, and automotive maintenance at Level 2 (or achieved before completion of the apprenticeship) (Essential)

Experience and Knowledge

  • Up-to-date subject knowledge in your specialist area (e.g. Engineering) and awareness of workplace practices (Essential)

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills (Essential)

  • Ability to follow direction and respond positively to feedback to support your development (Essential)

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines (Essential)

  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet different learner needs (Desirable)

  • IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Google platforms (Desirable)
