Salary: £32,000
Location: Based within the Anglian Water region covering the Huntingdonshire, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire area. Please note your placements may vary across the region and departments so flexibility is essential.

You’ll be joining our Water Production team, which plays a crucial role in delivering clean, sustainable water to millions of customers across our region.
No two days are the same. Through rotational placements, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of challenges and experiences. This dynamic environment will help you develop your technical knowledge, leadership skills, and strategic thinking. You’ll be at the heart of our mission to protect the environment and deliver exceptional service to our customers. You’ll gain hands-on experience and insight into the complexities of water management and build a strong foundation for a long-term career in the water industry.
What you’ll be doing:
Working with key stakeholders from across the Water Business Stream, the System Optimisation Team develop and deliver a wide portfolio of innovative system-based solutions that drive improvements in our regulatory performance metrics and outcomes. Through a better understanding of asset and system performance we aim to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of our day-to-day operations including the health, safety and wellbeing of our people. Through a systems approach we solve operational issues and key business challenges through innovation and continuous improvement creating value for our communities, stakeholders and the environment.
Throughout the graduate placement you will spend time across a number of teams to give you the skills and experience to help you prepare for a senior role within the System Optimisation Team.
Examples include:
Smart Water Systems – exploration, identification and delivery of a broad and diverse programme of Smart Water System investments and innovation across the Water Business Stream to deliver long term operational resilience in our next generation of water systems. Here you will have the opportunity to explore the future of water systems, through the application of innovation and involvement in wider sector forums focused on positive disruption and thought leadership that shape future water operations.
Systems Performance – we provide an insightful view of system performance, leveraging data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for system optimisation and drive informed decision making that supports the strategic goals of the business. Here you will learn the value of accurate data and how it can be used to target activity to best utilise the resource available.
Optimisation Delivery – we deliver a broad and diverse programme of Optimisation such as water network calming, energy efficiency and geographical system improvements to deliver financial savings and benefits towards numerous performance committments including leakage, interruptions to supply, water quality, customer and overall asset health. Working with specialist Engineers, you will be involved in the development of system-based solutions to ensure they meet holistic outcomes and are delivered efficiently directly and with our alliance partners.
