Salary: £27831 – £33730 pa pro rata

We are recruiting to a part-time Lecturer Level 1, 12-month fixed-term position as part of the Coventry Adult Education Service  Life Skills area.

 Life Skills offers a diverse range of engaging courses for young people and adults, designed to build confidence, support physical health and wellbeing, develop new skills, help gain qualifications and equip parents and carers to support their children’s learning. We place a strong emphasis on the First Step 

provision, guiding learners towards further learning, volunteering opportunities, combined with a line of sight to work or employment.

The Level 1 tutor will predominantly be working in the Inclusive Learning, Engagement and Employability Skills Programme (ILEEP), delivering provision for adults 19 years +, who have learning disabilities and/or difficulties, and also teaching in the Community Programme for adults.

You will be required to deliver a range of non-accredited learning activities, to develop accredited provision where applicable. Delivery is face-to-face in a classroom, and also in outdoor settings. Predominantly based at Broad Street Centre, and also a range of Adult Education Service venues and community venues across the city.

The primary role will be working in ILEEP, where the successful candidate will be teaching learners a range of practical and creative activities with a focus on sustainability, conservation, horticulture and environmental studies

Topics for delivery could include the following –

  •  Exploring the natural world and science- based activities
  • Developing an understanding of wildlife & animals
  •  Understanding plant life and horticulture
  •  Understanding conservation and environmental issues
  •   Experiencing and learning practical outdoor activities that help promote wellbeing
  •   Developing your creative skills.

You can discuss at the interview the above topics that need to be taught and any preferences for delivery.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant experience of working with Adults with Learning difficulties.
  • A Functional Skills/GCSE maths and English qualification at Grade C/4 or equivalent.
  • A relevant teaching qualification.

On interview you will be required to bring an example of a lesson plan, explain your teaching topic of your choice related to the position  and the impact your lesson could have the learners.  This will be followed by a 40 minute face to face panel interview
