Summary

At M&S, we’re transforming the way we work, and Finance is at the heart of that change. As our Order to Cash Finance Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a best-in-class finance operation that supports our ambition to be more digital, data-driven, and customer-focused.

This is a high-impact leadership role, responsible for overseeing a team of around 20 colleagues across Sales to Cash Reconciliation, Billing, Cash Application, Credit Control, and Credit Risk. You’ll drive operational excellence, lead process simplification and automation, and ensure robust financial controls are in place across all Order to Cash activities.

This role requires a strong leader with deep functional knowledge, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to influence and collaborate across Finance, Digital & Tech, and the wider business. We are open to candidates at Senior Finance Manager level also for this role.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you’ll do

Your key accountabilities will include

  • Lead & Transform: Manage a team of ~20 across core Order to Cash functions, driving best practice, standardisation, automation, and process simplification.
  • Deliver Finance Innovation: Support the rollout and optimisation of next-gen tools including SAP S/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, Vistex, Blackline, and Power BI to enhance performance and insight.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence: Oversee accurate invoicing, cash allocation, credit control, and reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, ensuring robust controls and stakeholder clarity.
  • Drive Insight & Efficiency: Use data and analytics to identify trends, challenge assumptions, and deliver actionable recommendations that improve business outcomes.
  • Champion Change: Act as a trusted partner and change leader, collaborating across Finance, Digital & Tech, and business units to deliver transformation initiatives and shape the future of Finance at M&S.

Who you are

Your skills and experience will include

  • Qualified Accountant with strong MS Office skills (especially Excel) and deep understanding of Order to Cash best practice.
  • Proven experience in leading high-performing teams and managing large-scale finance operations.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP (preferably S/4HANA), Power BI, and Blackline; experience with OTC tools like High Radius is a plus.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and engage junior colleagues.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to connect data, visualise insights, and drive decision-making.
