Role Purpose

To deliver operational training to our colleagues, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their roles effectively. This includes both factory-based and classroom-based training, as well as induction programs for new starters.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the delivery of essential training and buddying in the first twelve weeks of employment for new starters, ensuring they are equipped to succeed beyond their probationary period.
  • Leading on-site inductions, delivering engaging classroom-based training sessions.
  • Going into the factory with new starters to provide hands-on, practical training and upskilling colleagues on production processes.
  • Working with subject matter experts to maintain, update, and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), coordinating and delivering refresher training through observations, assessments, and policy updates.
  • Delivering training in key areas such as health and safety, compliance, factory floor skills, hygiene, and food safety in line with agreed standards.
  • Writing clear and practical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensuring colleagues understand how to follow them confidently and consistently
  • Ensuring training records and skills matrices are maintained and up to date.
  • Conducting regular audits to quality-check and validate that training and competence standards are being met.
  • Monitoring and reviewing learner progress through feedback questionnaires, observations, and discussions with managers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a training or learning & development (L&D) role within a factory environment (this doesn’t have to be food manufacturing).
  • A strong understanding of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and how to follow them effectively.
  • A proactive, people-focused trainer who is passionate about upskilling and developing others.
  • Hands-on coaching or buddying experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong communication and engagement skills, able to deliver training both in the factory and in classroom-based settings.
  • Computer literacy, including experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email.
  • Flexibility to support shift-based training when required.
