We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join and support our well established and successful staff team at Grateley House School. This role is ideal for those who genuinely have a passion for helping children, with a wide range of Special Educational Needs, and also a fantastic opportunity for those considering a career in Teaching to gain valuable first-hand experience. Candidates who are appointed will receive full support and training from colleagues and teachers. 

Grateley House School is a residential school for young people aged 9-19 years, who have a diagnosis of Autism or have strong emotional / behavioural traits of the Autistic Spectrum, typically high functioning Autism (Asperger Syndrome). The school can support young people with other associated difficulties such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia.

The main focus of this role will be to:

Support students in lessons
Assist the teacher in the preparation of work, resources and equipment for the lessons
Support students during on and off-site activities as appropriate
Complete require paperwork to record observations and interventions

 

What are we looking for in you? Previous experience of working with young people in a classroom environment would be desirable, but not essential as training will be given. You will be educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy. You will be committed to personal learning and development, and have a sincere commitment to sharing our long-term aims and drive for continuous improvement.
