Job Title: Outreach Advocate – Modern Slavery Response Team

About the Service/Department
Hestia is one of the largest providers of support to survivors on modern slavery in London and currently provides support in London and the wider south east region. Hestia’s modern slavery response team provides both outreach and accommodation to survivors both within and after the national referral mechanism. The team comprises of specialist advocates, managers and administrators.

About the role
To provide a high-quality emotional and practical frontline supportto individuals who may have experienced trafficking and modern slavery, including sexual and criminal exploitation, domestic servitude, and other forms of exploitation.

Some other main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Hold a caseload of service users
  • Provide pro-active service and advice to your clients (i.e. potential victims of trafficking in the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) to keep them and their dependents safe
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure access to ECAT* rights and help them navigate through the NRM*
  • Identify and assess any risks; & put in place appropriate safeguarding measures in response to these risks
  • Professionally deal with urgent requests and unpredicted issues
  • Have regular contact with clients and travel around London for key work sessions and community outreach

About you

  • Writing Skills
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations and professionally deal with emergencies
  • Time management and an ability to prioritize urgent matters
  • Organisational skills and ability to manage a full case load of clients
  • Work independently and manage your own meetings and schedules
  • Accurately handle Petty cash and record transactions
  • Proficient in using a computer and working on a database
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Teams, Excel, PPW and Word
  • Capacity to handle emotional and sometimes stressful work
  • Confidence in liaising with other organisations and professionals
  • Knowledge of GDPR principles
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and manage service user expectations
    • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately
