An exciting opportunity has arisen to help drive the development of the local authority led North East Migration Partnership, the role of which is to consider asylum seeker and refugee issues affecting the region.Â
This post is to assist the Partnership Manager in the development and ongoing management of political and partnership structures for the North East on migration issues. You will develop relationships, networks and assist to develop and deliver the annual partnership business plan, seeking and sharing good practice from national, regional, and local sources.
The Partnership brings together representatives from the Home Office, Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and Local Authorities alongside other statutory agencies such as the Police and Health, as well as voluntary and private sector organisations who deliver asylum and refugee services.
We are keen for a passionate and enthusiastic individual who may be looking to develop their career in Local Government or policy and information coordination. Part of a small strategic team, your role will be to assist in developing and servicing vital communications, managing key initiatives, improving information and good practice sharing within the Partnership.Â
You will be responsible for the delivery of key projects with partners, helping to improve partnership working, coordination and delivery practices on a wide and varied work programme for the region. There will also be opportunities to work with Government and other partnerships at a national level.
Your role will involve: developing effective regional systems and protocols for asylum dispersal and resettlement; improving local and regional engagement arrangements; supporting Partnership events, coordination of key projects and programmes such as UK Resettlement Scheme, Hong Kong BN(O) Welcome Programme, Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children, asylum seeker dispersal and seeking funding opportunities and, developing Partnership information and reports.Â
Working for Middlesbrough Council, as the host organisation, you will support the Partnership’s North East Manager and Lead Member politician.
