We are looking for a General Manager to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Taunton.

Cygnet Hospital Taunton provides acute inpatient admissions service for men and a specialist inpatient service for men diagnosed with a learning disability.

The hospital is situated in a rural setting amongst Taunton farmland, within acres of peaceful fields. This quiet and tranquil environment offers great benefit to our service users who are able to walk in the expansive hospital grounds and take in the countryside scenery. Taunton town centre offers contrast to the quieter country life with market places, shopping malls and many other entertainment areas such as restaurants, theatres and cinemas.

The role:

Reporting directly to the Hospital Manager, the post-holder will take overall responsibility for the management and functioning of non-clinical areas of the hospital according to set budgets, this will include maintenance, housekeeping, catering, administration and cover for other department Heads where necessary. The post-holder will lead on all contractual requirements for the hospital. In addition to these functions, the post-holder will undertake project management work, lead on appropriate investigations (SUI, HR related and complaints) where required and participate in audit and the development of policies for the smooth running of the hospital as a whole.

Working with the multi-disciplinary teams, family members, local authorities and regulatory bodies, you will have overall responsibility and accountability for the delivery of a high-quality service and promoting a positive culture.

As an ambassador for your service, you will provide leadership and management to the staff team, ensuring each individual plays their part in promoting choice and independence for the people they support. Ultimately, you will meet targets set out in our Quality Strategy, which will ensure your service is providing the best quality support and care possible.

  • We would welcome applicants who are proven leaders and have worked with varied stakeholders in the delivery of outstanding care
  • Previous management experience is essential
  • Preferable experience in similar role.
