The Finance team are also at an exciting time in their journey, shaping what our team looks like for this future, ensuring we are adding the most value to the Society.  As part of this, we have reviewed how we are set up across the function, the skills and capabilities we need to work in true partnership withour stakeholders in driving the Society’s long term direction and we have also started our Finance Transformation programme, to improve our brilliant basics, ensuring our processes and controls are strong and bringing in new finance systems to benefit not only the function but the rest of the organisation.

We’re evolving what we do and how we do it and we’ve got an exciting new opportunity within the Financial Strategy and Business Partnering team.  We’re looking for someone with vision, passion, drive and really strong leadership qualities to support the direction of the team.

What you’ll be doing

You will be working closely with your leader, peers across the team and key Leadership Team stakeholders to help deliver long term value to the Society through one of its key value streams, the Financial Advice proposition. Leading a team of 6 colleagues, you will be responsible for our Financial Advice and Cost Planning area of the team, which is instrumental in facilitating and co-ordinating all financial planning, financial analysis and business partnering for the end-to-end Financial Advice business.  You will work hand in hand with the Financial Advice Senior Leadership team, operating as one team to drive the best outcomes for the Society.

In addition to this, you will be responsible for Society wide cost planning / budgeting, inclusive of Financial Advice.  Partnering the business to collate, analyse and challenge cost budgets, highlighting drivers of the Society’s cost base and reporting against the Society’s strategic cost direction.

Leadership of the team, inspiring and motivating colleagues towards achievement of the team and Finance vision is key, as well as strong networks and relationships across the business to deliver against the overall Corporate Plan.

What you will bring

You’ll need extensive senior level financial accounting knowledge and experience.   You’ll have strong commercial acumen that you are able to apply in supporting a strategic direction.  You’ll take a long-term view on how our team should support the Society to make the best financial decisions for long-term sustainability. And you’ll be expected to use your first-class coaching and mentoring skills to develop the team. 

An agile and collaborative leadership style, working in a matrix style to deliver the best outcomes.  You will have an ability to build strong and effective relationships and will demonstrate strong thought leadership, having the courage of your convictions and being confident to stand behind your views and recommending the best course of action.
