Electrical Estimator – Manchester / Warrington
Due to continued growth in our Water sector, we are recruiting for an Electrical Estimator to join our United Utilities Capital Delivery framework.
This is a home-based role with occasional travel to project offices as required.
Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by United Utilities as one of 7 partners to deliver £3bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 – 2030.
Key Responsibilities
Develop estimates at all stages of the project life cycle from feasibility and concept through to detailed design stage
Develop estimating strategies and present to senior stakeholders both internal and external
Work closely with the bid team and be responsible for the preparation of the Electrical Estimate for each project
Preparation of the detailed scope from drawings, specifications and a PCD that details the outline scope
Prepare abstract of material and sub-contract requirements for sourcing and pricing
Attend site visits during tender period
Preparation of an M&E “Tender Book” to collate and present the M&E estimate
Preparation of M&E procurement schedules to ensure smooth handover to the delivery teams
Presentation of the estimate at bid team meetings and final settlement of bid, working to strict deadlines
Prepare Top-Down-Estimate using the Framework agreed schedules of rates and Cost curves for benchmarking as part of the review process
About You
Degree level qualified / equivalent in an Electrical Engineering related discipline
Preferably Chartered
Previous experience working as an Electrical Estimator for a major contractor within the water sector
Experience of pricing medium to large value electrical engineering projects
Customer Focused, Open and Honest, Safe and Environmentally aware
Excellent communication skills and a “can-do” approach at all times
Must be commercially aware and a lateral thinker with a knowledge of various Forms of Contract
Good technical understanding of Waste and Clean water process solutions including HV and ICA works
Numerate, accurate and self-checking
Knowledge of CCS ‘Candy’ Estimating system would be an advantage albeit training will be given.
