JOB PURPOSE

 

This role will support the Corporate Relations Director in handling all issues relating to the external reputation of the business, this will include: regular financial updates, management change, strategic updates, share dealing and reactive issue management. This role requires an experienced communications professional to support the Corporate Relations team in managing the global reputation of Burberry – a FTSE 50 company and the UK’s leading global luxury brand.

Working closely with the Corporate Relations Director, the Corporate Communications Manager will help manage and implement the corporate media relations strategy to protect and enhance the company’s reputation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Corporate Communications Manager will be integral to the seamless management of the following key areas:   

  • Financial Calendar – Working in tandem with the Corporate Relations Director, the IR team and our global PR agencies to help manage the 6 financial reporting days per annum. This will involve the logistical forward planning, to supporting the creation of materials, to the seamless management of media monitoring on the day.
  • Issues management – Working as part of the wider Communications team, you will be responsible for handling a selection of reactive media enquiries globally as they arise. Along with the Corporate Relations Director you will be expected to work with the relevant stakeholders within the business and use our agencies externally to provide a response or a handling strategy for the issue.   
  • Liaising with our web agencies to update the Burberry PLC webpages when required by the business.   
  • Liaising with Investor Relations and/or media agency for Regulatory News Service announcements.   
  • Maintaining and managing media monitoring services and Newspaper Licensing Agency relationship.

PERSONAL PROFILE

 

  • Significant level of Corporate Relations experience either in-house or at an agency  
  • Experience of financial calendar and issues management in the UK and globally   
  • A proven ability to work well under pressure   
  • Assiduous attention to detail and the ability to deliver to deadlines will need to be complemented by a friendly and flexible approach.
  • The ability to develop close media relationships, be a team player, is able to use their initiative and be responsive to contact outside traditional working times.   
  • The candidate will need experience in handling complex media issues, while displaying an ability to simplify technical language, tell a strong story and manage expectations.   
  • The candidate will also have the ability to interact comfortably with senior management, develop relationships throughout the business in order to be kept up to date on operational developments and source information speedily when required.   
  • Passion for the brand and a detailed understanding of the industry   
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to translate technical language.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and can multi-task with excellent time management.
